SINGTEL Ventures, the venture-capital arm of Singapore Telecom (SingTel), has plonked its biggest single investment into a Singapore company to date, paying some S$6 million for a 24 per cent stake in W3's investee AirGateway. Singapore Technologies Electronics Ltd ("STElect") has acquired a 19.8 percent stake in W3's investee - mobile payment solutions provider mPayment - in its ongoing effort to develop a strong mobile commerce initiative. STElect has option to increase its shareholding to 33 percent, the company said in a statement. Seah Moon Ming, president of STElect and newly appointed chairman of mPayment said, "mPayment specializes in mobile payment, commerce and marketing solutions, and we see mobile commerce as the next big consumer market driver". IN a big move to stimulate the computer animation industry in Singapore, the Media Development Authority (MDA) announced it will invest S$9m in a slate of seven animation TV series for children by a W3 investee - animation creator Peach Blossom Media - to be marketed to international broadcasters such as Nickelodeon and Disney. W3's investee Peach Blossom Media Ltd., the first Singapore company to list on London's Ofex market for small enterprises, may eventually also list in the city-state, Chief Executive Sung Lingun said Friday. "Ultimately, we may want to seek a listing on the Singapore stock exchange too, but the timeframe has yet to be decided," Sung told Dow Jones in a telephone interview from Amsterdam.

Winston Tan, managing director of Corporate Brokers International, today bought over a minority stake in W3 from Greendot Capital [a 100% Temasek subsidiary] through his private investment company. Winston will sit on W3’s board. Bill Liu, incumbent chairman and Temasek’s representative, will continue as W3’s chairman.
